Treasure in the Rhône in Arles.


Julius Ceasar founded the city of Arles in 46 B.C. His bust has laid undisturbed for 2000 years at this spot at the bottom of the River Rhône and was retrieved from its muddy waters last October along with a Neptune marble statue and scores of potteries. Three Roman barges still remain in the Rhône, one is apparently intact, and a huge project is currently under way to have it taken out entirely in one go...
